It was indeed such a great opportunity to visit Hakka Tree at Tesco Tanjung Pinang, Tanjung Tokong. They were all set to promote their Hakka Tree Poon Choy as well as Hakka Tree Yee Sang for this coming auspicious Chinese New Year celebration. When one thinks about food for Chinese New Year, apart from steamboat, another 2 famous items are Poon Choy and Yee Sang.
It was truly delightful to be able to dig into their amazing golden pot of Poon Choy and Yee Sang.
The outlet in Tesco welcomes diners to a nice nostalgic ambiance making dining much pleasurable.
We first started off with the Yee Sang, Which comes in 2 different serving sizes with loads of assorted vegetables, jellyfish and salmon.
All set? Ready? What else, toss high high.. :)
Yes, as they say the higher you toss, the better luck it brings onto you. Don't forget those magical phrase "Huat ahhh! Ong ahhh! Heng ah!!! haha... That's just how many does it.
What is good is that is uses mainly fresh ingredients for the Yee Sang.
Now for the time of that magical pot filled with the richness of premium items in it. A pot that brings such magical flavours and taste. The Hakka Tree Poon Choy does not only look good but taste as good as it looks. I think it taste much much way better than how it looks haha..:)
The Hakka Tree Poon Choy is made up from items such as : broccoli, golden bags, Chinese mushrooms, pork tendon ball, Australia sea cucumber, New Zealand scallops, prawns, Chile abalones, preserved Oysters from China, deep-fried foo chuk, white radish, yam, cabbage and pork knuckle.
Apart from the premium ingredients that makes the dish a hearty one, the gravy or the stock plays a major role in the dish. It is cooked with dried scallops and dried oysters that just gives the stock such richness in flavour and taste.
