Seafood & Wine Buffet Dinner at Iconic Hotel Penang




It was such an excitement to receive an invitation to Iconic Hotel Penang, making it my very first time stepping into the hotel. Now I sound like I have just came out from a village haha.. Their upcoming promotion is certainly a major attraction to all those seafood lovers out there. It's time to please your palates with the myriad catch from the sea. Be warned that there's no turning back upon seeing the food :p You can't say no because the temptation is so good. 

Located within the popular spot of Icon City, at Bukit Mertajam; Iconic Hotel stands tall among the buildings nearby it. When night falls, the hotel certainly captures the eyes from a far with the beautiful illuminating lights. 



A step into the hotel and you are welcomed by a nice contemporary yet elegant setting. There's even a welcome cotton candy bar. How nice!

The bountiful feast, Seafood & Wine Buffet Dinner awaits you on the 1st floor at MEZZA9. The dining place offers a nice cozy ambiance that makes dining in a comfort and relaxing environment. The seating by the glass panels facing outside are a perfect spot though.



Okay, get your tissues ready as you're about to start drooling looking at the food :)




Starting off with the healthy fresh greens. The Fresh Garden Salad Bar offers greens such as 
romaine lettuce, butter head, red coral, mixed peppers, carrot, cherry, tomato and cucumber. A variety of dressings such as 1000 island, French dressing, lemon rosemary and many more. Top it with condiments like green olives, dried cranberries, permesan cheese and sunflower seed among others. Oh so good !




While at the cheese corner, you will find blue cheese, cheddar and my favourite, camembert. That with some nuts, and cracker. I'll probably finish the whole platter on my own :p




Now time for the all the wonderful and amazing highlights. It's time for a seafood galore.

Diners' main attraction would be the Seafood on Ice. Enjoy items such as spanner crab, prawns, baby lobsters, slipper lobster and snow crab. One thing is, it certainly doesn't get any fresher than this. 
Within the same area is where the cold platter is. 

While the cold platter section offers slice smoked salmon and smoked tenggiri. 












Time for some warm hearty soups. 

The Tom-yam Gong Soup is like the ultimate soup. A scoop into it and you will be amazed by the "catch' that you get. The generous amount of seafood packed in it, giving such nice flavours to the soup. One serving and you'll be coming back for more.

On the other side is where the main course items are. 
Categorized under Western, Malay and Chinese. You will be able to enjoy the different styles of cooking too.

Seafood Paella



Baked Salmon with Pink Pepper Corn Sauce
This was so good. Well I can't deny I'm a big fan of cream based items but this was just to good to say no to.



Deep-fried Soft-Shell Crab with Garlic Aioli
The deep-fried soft shell crab was infact something interesting and an item you don't always come across in buffets. 


Oyster Au Gratin
Oyster, baked with cheese, two words -> more please.



MAIN COURSE MALAY

Prawn Thai Green Curry
Big juicy succulent prawns cooked in green curry was so addictive. The fragrant aroma and taste of the green curry just satisfy that Thai craving.


Braised  Flower Crab in Spicy Coconut Milk
Crab time! Yes load of crabs cooked in a delicious spicy coconut milk. The "lemakness" of the coconut milk together with the ingredients and spice use, you'll be coming back for more of it.


Braised Mussels in 3 Flavours


Golden Pomfret Braised in Spicy Tamarind Sauce 
Fish with a kick of spicy and tinge of sourness. Oh if you love fish curry, you will love this.


MAIN COURSE CHINESE

Kong Po Squid



Nestum Prawn
This is like an all-time favourite.



Stir-fried Grouper with Ginger and Onion


Grilled Calamari with Lemon Garlic Rosemary



Sea Cucumber Braised with Black Mushroom and Brocolli
This is like wonder treasure pot that offers such nice aroma and taste from the sea cucumber and mushrooms.. 


While at the noodle station, you get to enjoy the prawn noodle, laksa and the clear soup.






Portuguese Baked Fish
The mixture of ingredients and spices used, gave the fish a nice taste. Fragrant and a lil kick of spiciness.


Fried Oyster Omelette 



Now how interesting is this. Seafood Lok-Lok is served as well. All you have to do is take your favourite lok-lok items, place them in the boiling water for a while. Take it out, drain the water and pick you choice of sauce and yummz all ready to be enjoyed. For me, peanut sauce all the way. 


And now to my favourite part of the buffet, the DESSERTS! So far everything was just so pleasing to the palates, and the mouth-watering desserts just made everything wonderful.


Feels like it's already Christmas :)





The Opera cake was da bomb! If I had space, I would definitely had finish up the whole thing. Love the overall taste of it, it had the right sweetness and the chocolate taste was good. While the sponge was just right, moist too.




Time to be a kid all over again with the chocolate fondue.




Bubur Jagung


Perhaps some icy cool treats like ice kacang and ice cream with condiments. Well while you are already there, why now have a bowl of ais kacang with ice cream on it :)



Some freshly cut tropical fruits to end the meal with.



Happiness is when you get to fill yourself up with free flow of cordials haha..


On overall, I must say I was impressed with the myriad of seafood they have ready for you to enjoy away. So many that you will have a hard time thinking where to start? What to begin with? 

Well that covers the part of the seafood. How about wine? Just top up RM 50 nett, and the beer or wine is ready for you to enjoy away with your meal.



When Iconic Hotel meant Seafood Buffet, they truly brought in a wide spread of dishes consisting of seafood. If you love seafood, then even more reasons for you to head over to Iconic Hotel and feast away.
