"Love is Already in The Air" back at Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La. With Valentine's Day coming up real soon, the resort recently unveiled a romantic inspired dinner which is going to be held by the azure water pool. It is certainly going to be more than just another dinner by the pool.
The 5 course candlelight dinner is specially designed for couples seeking a memorable evening under the stars while dining by the largest blue lagoon swimming pool in Batu Feringgi beach. Entertainment is provided by violinist, Eunice who will be performing on the elevated stage right in the centre of the pool. Now how cool is that? It's definitely something unique and special that will just make that special day, a memorable one.

The intimate set dinner includes ‘Love at first sight’ or appetizers such as Grilled Hokkaido Scallop with caviar, vine tomatoes. Somen and Espuma sesame foam, Cupid’s Soup Cauldron made from roasted Roma tomato soup, garlic scented croutons, cream and basil oil. While waiting for the main course, sorbet of the day ‘Cool Temptations’ will be served.
Couples have two options for entrée of either meat or fish. Meat based entrée, ‘Saddle’ is a slow broiled beef tenderloin with gratin potato and sweet potato puree, fresh seasonal vegetables and black pepper sauce. Fish based entrée, comprises Pan-fried Black Cod fillet with rustic mashed potato, seasonal vegetables and Hollandaise sauce.
For dessert, couples can share a ’Lovers Surprise’ of Red Velvet Cake with winter berries and raspberry sauce ending with home-made Pralines served with tea or coffee. The price for the romantic dinner by the pool is RM888 nett per couple. This includes entertainment by a violinist in the centre of the swimming pool, a bottle of sparkling wine, a stalk of fresh rose and a box of Golden Sands homemade Pralines to end the evening on a sweet note.

‘Love at first sight’
Grilled Hokkaido Scallop with caviar, vine tomatoes. Somen and Espuma sesame foam.
The first thing to catch the attention would be the scallops. Rather huge in size and sealed with a nice flavour. It's a good thing to find 3 of it in a serving as it so nice that you wished there was a plate full of it. While the angel hair looked plain, but once bit into it, there's no stopping.
Cupid’s Soup Cauldron
Made from roasted Roma tomato soup, garlic scented croutons, cream and basil oil.
The richness of taste you get in the soup is just something that warms the soul.
‘Cool Temptations’

This palate cleanser is certainly something refreshing.

Availability of tables for couples around the swimming pool is limited to only 14 couples on first book basis. Once all 14 tables have been filled, subsequent bookings by couples have the option to dine at either Sigi’s Bar & Grill or at Sunset Cabana on the beach. The dinner price at Sigi’s Bar & Grill is RM388 nett per couple. The 3 course set menu is the same except that ‘Love at first sight’ and ‘Cool Temptations’ are not included. The price for Valentine’s Dinner at Sigi’s includes two glasses of house wine, a stalk of rose and entertainment by the Strollers Band.
For the Sunset Cabana dinner on the beach, limited only to three couples, the 5 course menu is the same as the set dinner by the swimming pool except that it also includes a bottle of sparkling wine, a bouquet of roses and a box of homemade Pralines. Entertainment on the beach under the stars is provided by “Steel Guitar” Strollers.
For couples seeking the ultimate fine dining experience they can opt to enjoy the charming set dinner ‘A Romance To Remember’ at the award winning Feringgi Grill at the Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa. The exceptional 7 course set menu features a lovely Hokkaido Scallops and Pears, Asparagus Salad with yoghurt, cherries and vanilla honey, Mango sorbet from Gelatimo with Monkey 47 Gin from Black forest Germany. Choose from two refined main courses. Grilled Salmon filet with roots vegetables and soy and butter sauce or Australian Angus Beef short ribs with red wine and pomegranates. Dessert is Comte cheese, truffles slice and Fig jams. The last course is Bitter Dark Chocolate served with Confiture de lait, Madagascar vanilla ice and delicate slide of roasted Almonds. The set menu at Feringgi Grill is at RM1,288 nett per couple and includes a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin (yellow label brut) champagne and a stalk of red rose.
If semi outdoors is the couple’s choice, the Pinang Restaurant & Bar is the ultimate dining by the beach with a Grilling of Romance BBQ .The price is RM218 nett per couple and includes house cocktails for two and a stalk of rose for the lady.
At the popular Spice Market Café, Great Spice Romance Buffet features all the best dishes with over 80 items served at the different open kitchen counters such as fresh seafood on ice, sushi and sashimi, cold appetisers, cheese platters, tossed salad, vegetable salads, vegetable antipasto, Indian counter, hot western soup with hot western dishes, carving station, action station, hot Asian dishes, noodle counter, a selection of ice creams, cold and hot desserts, chocolate fountain and Ice kacang station. Priced at RM218 nett per person inclusive of free flow of spiced beverages and a stalk of rose for the ladies.
For Cupid Night Out at FIP, couples can take part in the best couple contest, photo booth, lucky draw and enjoy entertainment by a live band from 9:00 p.m. to 12 midnight. Prices per couple is at RM138 nett inclusive of house cocktails, heart-shaped chocolates and a stalk of rose for the ladies.
CHI, The Spa has prepared “Love Potion”, a romantic spa treatment for couples in a private Villa that lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes. The romantic journey begins with 60 minute Relaxing Aromatherapy followed by 30 minutes of Organic Probiotics Salt and Sugar and Sugar Scrub, 30 minutes of Age-defying Organic Wrap, 30 minutes of Express Refresher Facial and 15 minutes of bliss soaking in an outdoor bathtub for Blossom Aromatherapy Bath.
