Award Winning Dishes and Signature of the World International Buffet, Eastin Hotel Penang

When it comes to Culinary Competition in Thailand, nothing gets bigger than the Pattaya City Culinary Cup 2014. Held from 13 to 17 Aug 2014 at the Peach Cliff Hotel Convention Center saw participants from various countries battling it out. It was a delightful moment for Eastin Hotel Penang as the chefs of the Hotel that took place in the competition brag the Gold Medal in the Pattaya Gourmet Seafood Challenge.


The Penang team which was led by the Executive Sous Chef of Eastin Hotel Penang, Chef Daniel Tan and 5 other talented Chefs.

The Team Manager, Chef Daniel Chia Yang who is not only the Executive Sous Chef of Eastin Hotel Penang but is also the Honorary Secretary of the Chef's Association of Malaysia, Penang Chapter. Chef Daniel was appointed in ensuring that the food preparation, cleanliness and buffet set up was all in order.

Together on board the team were Chef Mohd Fauzi Bin Ilias, the Team Captain who handled the appetizers, salad, tapas while team member Chef Vince Tan Zhi Hong, prepared a soup and 3 main courses. Both chef are also from Eastin Hotel Penang. Other team members were Chef Ch'ng Fu Wuey and Chef Chuah Lay Yen from the Chef's Association of Malaysia, Penang Chapter.

Now shall we take look at the award wining dishes that was awarded the Gold Medal.


These are the 4 dishes. Simple as it seems, but the interesting taste it brings that brags the Gold. 



Chilled Oyster with Vietnamese Dressing Style
Nothing gets better than getting served fresh oysters with an interesting dressing on it.




Crab Cake with Papaya Mango Dressing Served with Apple and Chili Salsa
When you think of having Papaya, Mango and Apple all in one dish, one will think it will not blend well, but in fact with such appealing start, the taste it develops is just amazing.



Roasted Pumpkin Ginger with Seafood Chowder
This chowder definitely has the taste that brings all the ingredients a balance taste. Nothing empowering the flavor of the other,.



Baked Fish With Spicy Pineapple Chutney & Fragrant Coconut Milk Rice
Having the fish perfectly done, the tangy taste from the pineapple chutney and the aroma from the rice makes each mouth fill with delighting flavours.

Wok Fried Chicken with Salted Egg Yolk
The uniqueness of having the salted egg yolk in the dish brings a real interesting taste to the dish.


Sambal Squid Malay Traditional Style
The sambal that was made was perfect with the squid.


Bailing Mushroom with Garden Green
A dish that will supply you will good healthy nutrients.



Rasberry Chilled Cheese, Cream Brulee, Chocolate Brownies
This is like the ultimate combo of desserts. Every single one of it was just mouthwatering.
