For this Ramadhan, Vistana Hotels in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan is back with the famous "Tok Wan 101 Recipes". It was a privilege for me to be back here once again and be wow-ed by the amazing variety and amount Vistana has to offer. Let me tell you, it is a whole load of delicious feast.
It is held in the Ground Floor Ballroom with the food all ready for diners to indulge as you approach.
Themed with authentic Malay dishes which is inspired by Tok Wan - Tok Wan being an colloquial Pahang state term for Grandmother. You will find an assortment of fresh tangy salads such as kerabu mangga, kerabu sotong and acar jelatah.
Next to it you will find a healthy selection of ulams such as ulam raja, jantung pisang, four-angled beans and petai too. Which goes well with sauces and sambals like the sambal belacan, cencaluk, tempoyak, budu and sambal nenas.
There is also the sup daging not to be missed. Now to some of the main dishes where everything looks so delicious. There is the tomato rice, ayam goreng berempah, ikan cencaru belah belakang, daging rendang tok, siput belitung masak lemak cili padi, gulai daging, ikan patin masak tempoyak and pucuk ubi masak lemak. This is just part of the dishes, there more to this.
There is also the curry and serunding to have with your lemang and ketupat.
Out to the outdoor area, there stands the whole lamb roast together with other items such as the grilled satay, kambing panggang, ikan panggang and ayam panggang at the "Bakar Bakar" section.
You will also fine the all-time Penang favourites like the murtabak, asam laksa, rojak and pasembur too.
Now there's nothing like ending the meal with some sweet treats. Infact not some but plenty of it haha..
Let see what they have.
Ice cream sticks like ice potong that comes in red bean, coconut and many other flavours.
A icy cool treat of ais kacang.
An array of traditional kuih-muih. I must say, Vistana has one of the biggest spread when it comes to kuih-muih variety. It is like being in a Pasar Ramadhan. Favourites such as onde-onde, kuih cara manis, seri muka, kuih ketayap and many more for you to choose from. I am sure you will find yourself having a tough time because you would probably want to eat all of it haha.
Some puddings and refreshing tropical local fruits.
What you have seen is just part of the buffet spread. There is more for you to enjoy.
The hotel is complete with ample parking spaces making it very convenient for large groups and for the convenience of Muslim diners, there is also the prayer rooms for you to utilize.
