Northern Thai Food Promotion at Spice Market Café, Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa Penang

Talk about buffet and Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa's name will certainly be among those favourites. This was indeed a privilege as it was my first review at Spice Market Café. What makes it even more special during this visit was the two guest chefs who came all the way from Shangri-La Hotel Chiang Mai to be here at Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa Penang to introduce the unique flavours of Northern Thai cuisine at Spice Market Café, which is the buffet highlight for the month of June.

Chef Damrongsak Khammonghon, a Sous Chef and Chef Pratthung Taka, a Chef de Partie has a combined of over 28 years of experience in Thai cuisine and they will be featuring an array of delicious and famous items such as Chiang Mai Curry Noodles with Braised Chicken Drumstick, Chiang Mai Deep-Fried Chicken with Herbs, Thai Spicy Prawn with Lemongrass and Prawn Salad with Shallot among others.

Below is Chef Damrongsak Khammonghon (L) and Chef Pratthung Taka (R)

"Thai food is based at its heart around the bounty of fresh and flavourful food to be found and grown in Thailand" said Chef Damrongsak. " The Key to preparing authentic Thai cuisine is using fresh ingredients that are cultivated on highland soil in its region. We will prepare all dishes in the same manner as we do back home, so you can enjoy the texture, presentation and taste as if you're in Chiangmai with us."

"We are happy to welcome these two guest chefs who are the most experienced chefs from our sister property in Chiang Mai," said Kalai.M or better known as Kay, the hotel's director of food and beverage. All hotel guest and diners will have a unique opportunity to experience Chef Damrongsak's  specialties from the north of Thailand. He is inspired by his family, whips up dishes based on time-honoured recipes and experience handed down from previous generations of chefs. Together with Chef Taka, diners can expect a sumptuous spread of the best Nothern Siamese cuisine."

Dining in such a nice and relax ambiance.
