Christmas & Daily Set Dinner at David Brown's Restaurant, Penang Hill.


It is certainly good to be back at David Brown's Restaurant located high up on Penang Hill, Penang. This time they are all set to welcome you to their brand new Set Dinner Menu for the month of December as well as something special for this coming Christmas.

Apart from the delicious gastronomic adventure up there, there is also no doubt that the place itself is surrounded by lushes of green as well as an amazing view of the island from up above.


Now how could one possibly not love this sight?



Alright so shall we have a look at what is up for the on-going Set Dinner for December.


For starters there is the Turkey Boxing.
The dish is made from turkey with some seasoning and ingredients, served together with sauteed spinach, caramalized shallots and turkey jus.


Next up was the Pumpkin Veloute. A heartwarming soup that came with pumpkin croquette, pumpkin chips and sprinkled with cheddar cheese. I'm not much of a pumpkin fan, but I just loved this soup by them. It was nicely pep. Such a nice flavour and together with the croquette and chips n the salty bite from the cheddar was just perfect.


You have 3 Entrees to choose from. A poultry item , fish or beef.

The first option is Roasted Chicken Thigh that is served with mushroom risotto, carrot puree, crispy enoki and portwine jus. The thigh was flavoured nicely and sealed with every bite of juicy and tenderness.


If you love a catch from the ocean then the Seared Line-Caught Barramundi would be your choice. Served with HK kailan,potato pave, mango-pineapple salsa and Romesco sauce. It is nice when every bite of freshness from the fish with the tangy salsa together with the Romesco sauce gives a nice blend of flavours all together. 



Nothing will stop beef lovers from this beef item. The Black Angus Medley consist of Black Angus sirlion & slow braised rump served together with roasted plum tomato, phyllo mushroom bundl, horseradish cream and beef jus. It's every bite of melting moments with a mix of cream sauce and beef just that anticipates a wonder flavour in every bite.



Now nothing beats ending the meal with a sweet note. 

The Green Tea Cremeux is certainly something irresistible. Red bean jam, with pistachio crumble and green tea tuile certainly gives the cremeaux that nice soft texture along with the crumbly bite from the pistachio crumble.

With Christmas fast approaching, perhaps you would like to surprise your loved ones to a magical dining of flavours and taste. 



Starting off the Christmas menu is the Amouse Bouche, where delicious slices of smoked salmon on baquette toast. 



As for starters, there is the Hokkaido Scallop & Smoked Duck, served with apple remoulade, salmon roe, greens with Italian dressing. The smoked duck was delicious . The flavour and taste it gave made you wanting more of it. While the salmon roe on the scallop, just pops aways on every bite you take. 


Pumpkin Veloute


A refreshing Mixed Berries Granita is served as your pre entree item. It's shaved iced with a refreshing taste of berries in it.


You are given 3 types of entree to choose from. Similiarly a poultry item, a fish or beef.

The first option is the Turkey Roulade served with roasted potato, chicken liver stuffing, glazed apple and cranberry port demi. The presentation itself is already so appealing. The turkey roulade went well with the sauce. But I am not a big fan of chicken liver, so if you like chicken liver then you will certainly love the portion of the stuffing that they serve with.

The Black Angus Medley 

As not one but 2 sweet treats to end the meal with.

Pre dessert will be the Mango Sorbet. Definitely a icy cool refreshing treat.



Chocolate Cremeux certainly appeals the eyes on first contact. Served with bitter cocoa crumble, butterscotch, caramelized banana and vanilla ice cream. A combo of everything delicious in a plate.
