It's that time of the year where our Muslim friends observe the Holy month of Ramadan and it's also that time of the year where the talented chefs at The Light Hotel Penang presents a bountiful spread of such amazing flavours and taste for diners to please their palates through their Bufet Ramadan Mutiarasa.
Under the direction of Executive Chef Halim, it's going to be a gastronomic journey that will leave your tummy smiling.
I had the privilege to enjoy all the mouth-watering cuisine and the variety that they serve will probably have you thinking hard, where to start first. With over 140 selection of local favourites, that's a massive amount of varieties made available for you.

The start was pretty unique when a trishaw was spotted ferrying "dulangs" filled with food to the restaurant. This was to showcase their another promotion, Juadah Qash'ah, which is a serving of a good hearty portion of their signature dish in a big tray seated in a group. Reminiscing the memories of the good old days but with a little twist of Arabic influence.

Start off with some delicious local kerabu salads.
One of the much looked forward to item during Ramadan is the Bubur Lambuk
Yellow Squash Soup with Adjawa Date
The kambing Golek Warisan Tok Wan is a major hit here. Tender juicy meat that makes you wanting more of it.
The main course itself consist of quite a number of dishes. From meat to seafood to vegetables.
Some of the highlights to look out for would be the favourites like Nasi Kandar, Ayam Bawang, Gulai Udang, Kambing Hitam Manis, Gulai Kepala Ikan, Gulai Ketam, Dalca Telur and the famed Sup Gear Box. Oh... all those food names making me hungry now haha..
You will get a mixture of local Malay, Chinese, and Indian food with international fare as well. The different style of curry, offering such aromatic spice aroma and taste is just so welcoming.
The Shawarma was really good. Everything was just right. The chicken meat, the sauce that complimented it. Perfect bite.
They even have pizza as well.
While at the action counter, you will find items like roti canai, murtabak, laksa , char koay teow and many more. The koay teow we had was the bomb. It was "oh sedapnye!"
As you have seen, that has been a feast of food seen but it does not stop there. There more desserts to end the meal with.
Introducing my favourite part of the buffet haha.. There's no saying no too all of these mouthwatering treats. From cakes, Malay kuih and kuih Raya.
Pengat Durian..if you love durian, then remember to "attack" this :)
Oh the specialty at Spice Brasserie is the teh tarik. The aroma and nice milky taste just warms the soul. This is a must have.
