It felt like it was just yesterday when I was at Nada Lama enjoying every bit of all the sumptuous delicacies prepared on the buffet line during the Holy month of Ramadhan last year. Fast forward and here we are back at Nada Lama for another year of pampering the palate with even more delightful fare.
I had the privilege to be at the Official Launch of Hotel Equatorial Penang's Ramadhan Open House not too long ago. The event started off with the opening speech which was then followed by the unveiling of the hotel's festive decorations by the General Manager of Hotel Equatorial Penang, Mr Andreas Knüssi.
"This year the hotel will be beautifully decked out with this 18ft giant lamp as the centrepiece alongside with decorative cut-out motives and LED fairy lights hanging from the top of our signature atrium. These decorative structures are made from plywood, all crafted from scratch by our very own in-house team and it took us 5 days for the full setup. Our Surau is privileged to receive a 5-star rating from The Islamic Religious Council of the State of Penang." said Mr Andreas Knüssi in his opening speech.
Majestically beautiful isn't it.
We then proceeded to Nada Lama to explore what the chefs has whipped up for this Ramadhan.
All set to start drooling? Here we go :) There's going to be HEAPS of food for you to enjoy. Almost every corner of the place has food for you to indulge. That's where the "headache" starts as you wouldn't know where to start with hehe
Let's begin with the local mix salad. A few variations of kerabu and acar is prepared for you to enjoy.
The popular favourite dish, Kambing Pangang and Arab Briyani is back again to please the palates. The tender juicy meat together with the fragrant Arab Briyani is just delicious.
Shawarma
An assorted variety of steamed Dim Sum items is also served on the buffet line.
Pick your favourite greens at the Salad Bar.
Warm the stomach with some hearty warm soup like Sup Ekor Lembu Berlada, Cream of Mushroom Soup as well as one of the must have items, Bubur Lambuk.
Pick your favourite items and scoop into the thick peanuty sauce over it for your Gado-gado.
Now let's check the hot main dishes.
First look at everything looks so welcoming.
Nasi Tomato
Ayam Rendang Kunyit
Daging Bahmia
Kambing Bawang Lada Hitam
Bunga Kobis Berempah
Udang Sambal
Steamed Fish Salted Vege & Bean Curd
Take a lil of this and that and once it enters your mouth, a bursting of magical flavours and taste just happens. Memang best tau :)
On the other section you will find a mix of oriental cuisine such as
Steamed Fish Salted Vege & Bean Curd
Chicken in Sour Plum Sauce
Cauliflower, Broccoli, Mushroom with Mixed Herbs
Beef Steak Black Pepper Sauce
The grilling station itself has so much to offer. From sausages to meat and seafood.
Their famous chili crab is spot on.
Chef, nak satay 100 cucuk boleh? hehe (Chef, can I have 100 stick of satay please?)
Wow! There is also some Japanese fare too. Crispy tempura vege and prawn.
Lemang and serunding. Oh enak!
You get to eat not 1, not 2 but 3 types of pizza. Nice!
A delicious bowl of laksa is calling.
The gastronomic journey continues with another section located at the outdoor area.
The Mongolia BBQ is certainly one major highlight there. You are offered items ranging from seafood, vege to meat. All you have to do is pick the items that you would like to have, pass it to the chef and they will 'wok' it up for you. A nice peppery sauce is used to stir-fry the items and it's so so good.
The Murtabak Durian is a favourite too.
Now off to end the meal with lots of sweet treats.
Dessert time!
I was more than thrilled to spot the soft serve ice cream machine at the buffet line. I get to pull my own ice cream. Wohoooo!
From Western treats to local Malay kuihs, everything looked and tasted so mouth-watering deliciously satisfying.
Oh look at that beauty. The flowing chocolate is calling for me :)
Another interesting find is the cotton candy station. Kids, attack! haha
Fancy some rojak?
Don't forget to also enjoy the sweet juicy fresh cut fruits.
Cold beverages like dates juice, sugarcane and more.
As you can see, the amount of variety prepared is MASSIVE. Like really really really a lot of variety for you to enjoy. If only I could fit a bit of everything in my tummy haha..
So make your bookings now and be pampered with all the different style of cooking and flavours Nada Lama has to offer this Ramadhan. A scanerio of spoilt for choice.
