DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang proudly presents ‘Fortune Flavours The Bold’ for this Chinese New Year season with culinary delights from Makan Kitchen, Axis Lounge and The Food Store. In conjunction with ten other participating Hilton properties in Malaysia, this also marks the first nationwide campaign of the year.
A wordplay of the popular ‘fortune favours the bold’ proverb, this year’s theme honours the Tiger zodiac’s traits of boldness and bravery, while ‘fortune’ is synonymous with the festive period and symbolic among the Chinese communities. The masterfully-crafted dishes are flavoured with a bold dimension, aligning with Hilton’s core values of culinary craftsmanship and creative innovation.
Makan Kitchen, the resort’s flagship all-day dining restaurant, is offering three exciting Chinese New Year-themed buffets featuring Master Chef Heng's specialties. Its Chinese Sous Chef, Penang-born Mr Yoong Toy Heng’s illustrious career spans across 19 years including winning regional culinary awards and competitions in Shenzhen and Vietnam. Bringing his expertise in local street food and traditional Nyonya cuisine to the table, try the Steamed Fish Ala Nyonya, Wok-Fried Flower Crab with Kam Heong, Penang White Curry Mee, Crispy Duck with Thai Mango Plum Sauce and Roasted Honey Lamb Char Siew. Other highlights include Steamed Glutinous Rice with Dried Prawn Meat, Black Mushroom and Chicken in Lotus Leaves and the lunar must-have Yee Sang. Cosy up with a high tea special at Axis Lounge with sweet and savoury finger food such as ginger creme brulee, macarons and assorted French pastries. Available from 22 January until Chap Goh Meh, the high tea set also includes orange scones with jam, Hainanese chicken pie and Kam Heong prawn open face sandwich.
Bring home a celebratory feast with DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang’s Chinese New Year takeaways. Perfect for a small family of four or five, the Prosperity Treasure Pot comes with fine layerings of seafood, meat and vegetables including abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber, dried scallop and ‘fatt choy’ sea moss among others. Yee Sang selections are also available for takeaway and delivery, and guests may select from a range of festive goodies and customisable hampers from The Food Store counter.
