Big Bad Wolf Books Returns To The Pearl of the Orient, Penang Island - 2022
Book lovers visiting the Book Sale will have the chance to savour more time browsing at the Sale. Why do you ask? The Big Bad Box Sale – Midnight Madness will stay open for 14 hours from 10:00am to 12:00am! Soon to be nestled at the carpark Lotus’s Tanjung Pinang in Tanjung Tokong for 11 days starting from the 28th April up until 8th May, 2022, customers to The Big Bad Box Sale will have the opportunity for an incredibly fun and affordable book-shopping experience.
After successfully obtaining the box at the cashier counter, customers may proceed to shop and be greeted by a sea of books of various genres ranging from children, fiction and non-fiction for all ages that are bound to be discovered and brought home, from the Wolf’s den.
Andrew
Yap, Co-Founder of Big Bad Wolf Books said, “The Big Bad Box Sale is one of our customers' most anticipated
Book Sale. What’s exciting about it is that customers are able to select all
the books they have been eyeing for and pay at an affordable price of RM99.90
or RM119.90. When you are in a bookstore, the expectation of spending in the
range of RM99.90 will have you return home with only one or two books. With the
upcoming The Big Bad Box Sale, you will be able to bring home a box filled with books for yourself and even for your friends or
family without having to burn a hole in your pocket. How exciting is that?”
On top of this, customers who are eager to
express their creativity can look forward to participating in an exclusive Colouring Contest that Big Bad Wolf
Books will be hosting on the afternoon of 30th
of April and on the 1st of May, 2022. Children aged 3 to 12 years old and
adults aged 13 and above are welcome to flaunt their skills by colouring a
beautifully illustrated drawing by Lisa
Wee, who is a Peranakan Penang-born kidlit author and illustrator. The
first twenty lucky participants of the Colouring Contest will stand a chance to
win prizes courtesy of Big Bad Wolf
Books worth more than RM1,500.
“I am honoured to be collaborating with Big
Bad Wolf Books on this exciting Colouring Contest. My drawing illustration for
this contest is inspired by various elements of diversity that many Malaysians
embrace. As part of my collaboration, I look forward to donating children’s
books to the pediatric ward of Penang General Hospital. Lisa Wee expressed.
For a record of 13 years, Big Bad Wolf Books
remains steadfast towards its mission in Changing The World, One Book At A Time. The
Big Bad Box Sale – Midnight Madness is part of Big Bad Wolf Books’ 2022
reading campaign which aims to cultivate reading habits among Malaysians by
offering books at affordable prices and making it accessible to all. The idea
of choosing the first book to put into the box will potentially lead a customer
to eventually filling their box with various types of books with what inspires
them the most. The reading campaign is part of the Company’s mission to
continue to encourage people to pick up a book or two either for themselves,
for their friend or family and to empower them with knowledge. Big Bad Wolf
Books is focused on creating a new generation of readers and increasing English
literacy.
As part of Big Bad Wolf Books’ Big Bad
GiveBack community outreach programme, Big Bad Wolf Books will be donating
books to Penggerak Komuniti Muda (PEKA) whereby
PEKA plans to place these donated books at their newly launched mini library booths along Beach
Street. And in the
future, some books will also be available at the Chowrasta Market Bus Stand located along Jalan Penang as well as at the
Japanese Garden located at Seri Delima. The aforementioned locations are
projects led by Joshua Woo Sze Zeng,
the Executive Director of PEKA who
specialises in research on sustainable development, climate action, and public
transportation.
Joshua
Woo Sze Zeng, Executive Director of PEKA said,
"PEKA looks forward to the fruitful collaboration in working together
towards the shared vision and effort with Big Bad Wolf Books, which is to
cultivate a reading habit among the people in Penang. We hope the revived library
concepts will pique the interest of many Penangites once they stumble upon the
several locations that we have and will work on in the near future."
