If you're on a hunt for Mexican food in Penang, you've got try La Chica Mexican Grill. Located at Straits Quay, La Chica Mexican Grill just opened its door back in May 2023 and it's another fabulous venture by The Olive Tree Group. La Chica Mexican Grill welcomes diners over to a vibrant and colourful setting with lots of traditional Mexican touches and a wholesome Mexican vibe. Chill back and enjoy the rhythm and beat from the Latin music in the background.

Mexican ambiance, checked! Mexican food, let's dig in. 

La Chica serves an extensive menu with a gorgeous selection of Mexican flavours for your ultimate Mexican indulgence. Dig into favourites like Tacos, Enchidilas, Burritos, Fajitas and lots more. The chefs back at La Chica Mexican Grill specialises in giving these tantalising dishes a nice modern twist by incorporating a touch of new flavours and techniques while using fresh ingredients for that delicious satisfaction. 


We were privileged to be there during their Soft Opening event and here's a sneak peek of La Chica Mexican Grill.

Their open kitchen concept allows you to actually have look at the chefs preparing your food which is visible especially from the outside.




We had a taste of some of their delightful creations from the menu and sure did enjoy every bite we took. Among the food that we tried was the Aguacate De Res Taco made of beef brisket, avocado and radish;  Al Pastor De Pollo Taco consisting of marinated chicken slices, pineapple salsa, coriander and lettuce; Pescado Con Miel De Habanero filled with hanabero honey glazed fish, red cabbage and pico de gallo, They also offer vegetarian option like the Berenjena Y Champinones made with roasted mushrooms, eggplant, herb pomegranate salsa and rosemary sour cream. 






The Nachos is not only appealing at first sight but once you pop a piece, you can't get enough of it. A serving consist of crispy tortilla chips, melted cheese, jalapenos, bean paste, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole and salsa with choice of either chicken, beef or just vegetarian.





Pinchito De Pollo were juicy tender chicken skewers served with salsa verve and pimiento salsa. While the Pescado Asado Skewers were made with grilled fin fish, peppers, onions, cucumbers, salsa and lime.




If you're a fan of pasta, you can try the Pasta De Fajita De Pollo. A dish of fajita chicken strips,  mixed capsicums, onions, garlic, cream and cheese.




The Quatrorita Margarita Tree was something that our caught attention when the bartender was preparing it. It has 4 types of margarita served in a manner that resembles a tree form. Something fun to order and enjoy.







Make a trip over to La Chica and pamper your tummy to all the wonderful Mexican treats and enjoy the panoramic view of the Straits Quay Harbour.
